We taught the girls how to do a dance called 'The Flying Monk'. The dance commemorates Eilmer, a monk who attempted to fly from the tower of Malmesbury Abbey in the 11th century using wings he had made himself. Whilst he wasn't entirely successful (he ended up breaking his legs) he may well have been the first to attempt to fly like this. His story is still well remembered in Malmesbury and so it is fitting that we have a dance in recognition of him.
The girls were very enthusiastic and worked hard to perfect the figures. Learning how to use hankies can be quite tricky!
